Save Money at Disneyland AND Disney World!! How to Save Money on Disneyland or Disney World Park Tickets and Annual Passes from Target Stores (Seriously!)

How to Save Money on Disneyland Tickets, Food and Merchandise

With the price of Disneyland park admission going up every year ($97-$110/person as of 2/13/17!!), saving money on Disneyland Tickets and Annual Passes is a secret everyone wants to know… and I have a surprisingly simple trick to save you some cash on Disney tickets and merchandise! This trick works for Disney World and Disney California Adventure as well!

UPDATE: 2/15/17

IMPORTANT UPDATE: It seems that Target has changed their policy on offering 5% off when purchasing Disney Gift Cards using the Target Red Card. Some folks are reporting that this only works if the value of other merchandise purchased is greater than or equal to the value of Disney Gift Cards purchased. I do not have confirmation of this yet, so if you happen to know and would like to share, please comment below.

Alternatively, you can also try visiting gift card resale websites, such as Gift Card Spread, and purchasing Disney Gift Cards at discounted prices. Ever had a gift card just sitting in your wallet that you’re not planning to use? Some people resell unwanted gift cards at a discount on websites like Gift Card Spread. Take advantage!

I am a big Target shopper – I love Target! I buy just about everything there. And recently, I found out that you can actually buy Disney gift cards (which in turn can be used towards admission, food, and merchandise at Disneyland) at a discounted price (5%) using the Target Red Card. The Target Red Card is a debit or credit card (I have the debit card – no fees or anything) that saves you 5% off everything at Target (!). Believe it or not (I didn’t at first but it is true) you can actually save 5% on the Disney gift cards sold at Target, and then you can turn around and use those gift cards at the ticket booth to purchase your Disneyland tickets, annual passes, food, merchandise, etc. etc. etc.! And Target Pharmacy also offers and ADDITIONAL 5% (on top of the Red Card) when you fill 5 prescriptions. So you can potentially save a lot of money very easily.

Get discounted Disney gift cards with Target Red CardOh yeah, and if you happen to have a family member who is a Target employee, see if you can take advantage of their 10% employee discount to get additional savings (that would save a whole heck of a lot of money, especially if you use it towards Park Hopper tickets or Annual Passes).
(UPDATE – unfortunately that last sentence is no longer true. Target employees and their family members get the same discount as everyone else on these gift cards.)

So… YOU’RE WELCOME!!! You can thank me by sharing the above photo on Pinterest :)

UPDATE: 4/19/15

Confirmed by one of our readers, these cards are accepted at Walt Disney World in addition to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. The gift card can also be redeemed at DisneyStore.com, Disney Stores, and Disney Cruise Line.

Awesome! I look at the Disney gift cards every time I’m at Target, but I figured my Red Card discount would not apply. Thanks so much!

Hi Elizabeth! I haven’t tried it but it is a generic Disney gift card and I am 99% sure it would be accepted for any Disney Park, including Disney World. I will ask next time and post a follow-up comment for everyone else who is wondering. Thanks for asking!

Hi Normajean! As I said to Elizabeth above, I haven’t tried using this for Disney World tickets but since it is a generic Disney gift card, I am 99% sure it would be accepted for any Disney Park, including Disney World. I will ask next time and post a follow-up comment for everyone else who is wondering. Thanks for asking!

My mother, Marsha Burris, is a Disney Planner (With Imagination Travel), and she turned me on to getting the cards and YES! – they are accepted at Disney World! We use them every time we go – nice way to save up for the “extras” too! My girls get them for Birthday and Christmas to use them for their own spending in the parks!
